2019 PROGRAM

Saturday 13th

8:30am start with all competitors mounted for the committee welcome and judges' address.

Please note: It is invariable that each horse and rider combination will have differing levels of development. For this reason, the committee acknowledges riders may need to bypass elements within the sections, however each section must be at least attempted. While this may affect your score, the important thing to be proud of is that you came and had a go!

DRY PATTERN

Horse and rider complete a simple memorised pattern showcasing their horse's movements through various linked elements. These elements may include, but are not limited to: trot and canter circles, stops, reinback, rollbacks and haunch turns.

How it will be judged: each movement will be scored out of ten, including an element for horsemanship showed, at the discretion of the judge.

As soon as riders have finished their dry pattern, they can move on to the time trial.

TIME TRIAL

This will be a timed dash along a clearly marked scrub track previously unseen by competitors and incorporating natural obstacles.

How it will be judged: timed event - fastest time gains the most points.

WHIPCRACK (INCL. FREESTYLE)

Section consisting of two parts.

Part 1: Horse and rider required to navigate a sequence of paper targets that they aim to break by cracking their stockwhip while mounted.

Part 2: Directly after completing Part 1, the combination are allowed a short period (approximately one minute) to demonstrate a skill that they feel will impress the judge - this can, but does not need to include the use of a stockwhip. Props are welcome, although allocated time includes setup.

How it will be judged: some points will be gained by having an attempt, some if targets are broken but whip not cracked and some if whip is cracked but target is missed. The highest points will be awarded to the riders who crack their whip and hit a target at the specified pace for their class. This section also includes a score for horsemanship. Points for the Freestyle section will be awarded at the discretion of the judge.

Saturday night dinner and entertainment at the Redgum Lodge.

Sunday 14th

8:00am start with all competitors mounted for the judges' address.

The Gumnuts class will start their simplified program at 9am in the small arena while the other classes start their Obstacle Course in the main arena or their cross country course.

OBSTACLE COURSE

A course of elements inspired by both traditional tasks and new challenges, displaying discipline and trust between horse and rider.

How it will be judged: each obstacle will be scored out of ten, including the score for horsemanship at the discretion of the judge. Only obstacles completed within the allotted time limit will be scored.

CROSS COUNTRY

Horse and rider will be required to complete a course of naturally inspired jumps with the height and degree of difficulty varying from Juniors through to Open riders. Points will be awarded for each jump cleared, with options to accrue bonus points by completing specially marked jumps.

How it will be judged: scored and timed. Each jump cleared will be awarded points and points will be deducted for times faster or slower than the optimum time.
